Did you know?
Asbestos is a respirable Hazard but it’s what you can’t see that poses the greatest danger.
The lung secretes an acid to dissolve dust but has no effect on asbestos fibre. Instead the continual assault by the acid can eventually have an effect on the wall lining of the lung. A cyst forms over the fiber and this in some cases can cause Asbestosis. Customers tell us regularly "it’s only a teaspoon or shovel full of Asbestos surely it poses only minimal danger to our health". Why then are we told it only takes one fibre to lodge in our lungs to cause asbestosis? Why then are there so many laws governing Asbestos removal and safe handling? Why then is its use now banned in most countries throughout the world? Why then are work or living areas evacuated as soon as it is established asbestos contamination is present? Why then do we have to undertake visual inspections and air tests to establish that all asbestos has been cleared before we hand back an area cleared of Asbestos contamination? In recent times All Asbestos and Insulation Limited have cleaned up the ceiling voids of housing and commercial warehousing after roofers or other contractors have removed and replaced Asbestos roofing and not satisfactorily cleaned up dust deposits settled on beams and trusses and over ceiling insulation. In some cases years after the original work was carried out. Asbestos dust posses more of a hazard than the Asbestos roofing material which is generally contained within the matrix of the product as Asbestos dust is friable and easily becomes airborne causing a resprabile hazard. This should be cleaned during the removal process but seems to be regularly overlooked.
