ENERGYWISE WARM UP NEW ZEALAND: HEAT SMART PROGRAMME

ENERGYWISE WARM UP NEW ZEALAND: HEAT SMART PROGRAMME

TripleA Insulationis a specialised residential insulation installer that is based in Lower Hutt and services the wider Wellington Region.

We have partnered up with Home&dry to deliver insulation measures through ENERGYWISE’s Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart Programme, which enables us to offer all eligible clients subsidies through the government insulation programme.

Through our relationship with Home&dry, we are also able to help organise a quote by an approved heat pump provider who can offer you the applicable subsidies.

How does the ENERGYWISE Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart PROGRAMME WORK

Click here to register your interest for an appointment(afil@xtra.co.nz) - we will send out an assessor to audit the current insulation (or lack of it!) in your house, discuss our recommendations with you on the best products to bring your insulation up to standard and provide you with a written quotation based on your preferences.  Our quote will detail the products we are quoting, the volume of measures required and the applicable subsidy, to keep the price as transparent as possible!

Who qualifies?

To qualify for a subsidy, the home must be built prior to January 1st 2000 and it must be someone’s primary place of residence (i.e.: holiday homes and commercial buildings are not eligible for any funding).   A summary of the funding available is below:

  Insulation Clean Heating*
All Income 33% off the cost of
insulation up to $1300
$500 grant
Low Income
& Rental
60% and eligible house
owner pays up to 40%
$500 and eligible house
owner pays balance
Low Income &

$1200 and eligible house

*You cannot receive any funding on a clean heat appliance unless your insulation has been signed off by a specialist as meeting EECA’s standard.

Please note Low income subsidies are extremely limited and each approved EECA provider is given a different allocation which means they are not always available.  If you are looking for this higher level of funding let us know at the initial contact and we can advise whether there is any funding available.

Minimum requirements to qualify for the EECA subsidy

Another thing to be aware of is that you cannot choose to get only ceiling insulation, or only under floor insulation.  Where possible and required, we must ensure that the ceiling and under floor are brought up to EECA standard before we can offer the subsidy.  More details on this can be found on the EECA website:
http://www.energywise.govt.nz/funding-available/insulation-and-clean-heating

If you have adequate insulation, but it has been installed poorly, we must also complete remedial work to bring it up to EECA standard.  Common repairs that we complete include a minor relay and infilling of gaps and clearance of insulation from down lights and flues.  This remedial work is covered under the program and is charged at either an hourly rate or a square metre rate, whichever is applicable.

Also we must install Polythene Ground Moisture barrier into your home if your under floor cavity does not have adequate ventilation.  Our assessor will discuss this with you at the time of assessment if the existing ventilation is a problem.

Extra Service

From time to time we may recommend work which is not covered by an EECA subsidy, such as insulating all accessible walls that are part of the house’s thermal envelope, or installing loose-fill insulation into ceiling cavities that are otherwise inaccessible.
We will provide a separate quote for this work and whilst it is not funded by EECA, it is of huge benefit to you to insulate as much as possible!

We can even add insulation by lifting the roof for access.

Heating & Other options

Through our relationship with Home&dry, we are also able to help organise a quote for a Mitsubishi Electric or Fujitsu heat pump by an approved heat pump provider, as well as ventilation solutions and double glazing.

The Process

Contact us to arrange a time for assessment; We are often able to get to your house within 2-3 weeks!
  1. We complete the assessment and request that you are on-site for health and safety reasons, and so we can discuss our recommendations and options through with you at the time of assessment.
  2. We email (or post) you a quote on the products that are agreed upon at the time of assessment.
  3. Once you have reviewed the quotation and wish to precede, sign the attached forms and return to our office along with the 25% deposit as listed on the quotation.
  4. As soon as all applicable paperwork and deposit is received we will book a date for installation with you; We are often able to install within 4 weeks of accepted quote even in the middle of Winter!
  5. Once your work is completed it will be inspected by our auditor to ensure work is up to standard. Should any faults be found these will be remedied within 48 hours and the work re audited.
  6. We will send you a final invoice once we have the audit sign off.  Payment terms are 7 days after invoice.
  7. EECA audit 10% of the homes insulated through the programme.  You may be asked by EECA auditors for access for this purpose. This helps to maintain the high install standards that EECA are setting.
